What KHIDI Certification Requires

The KHIDI foreign patient program is not self-registration — it requires Ministry of Health verification of:

  • Valid medical institution license under the Medical Service Act
  • Board-certified physicians in the relevant specialty
  • Malpractice insurance covering foreign nationals
  • English-language patient rights documentation
  • Informed consent process meeting MOHW standards
  • Compliance with PIPA for foreign patient personal data

Renewal is required when any key credential expires. MenPower renewed in April 2025 — current registration number M-2025-04-11-00291.

Facility Standards — Operating Room

  • Class IIA surgical facility license — MOHW
  • Sterilisation protocol: ISO 13485 compliant (same standard as hospital ORs)
  • AMS and Coloplast authorised implant facility
  • Full resuscitation equipment and on-site defibrillator
  • Anesthesiologist with KMA board certification
  • Post-op recovery room with monitoring equipment (SpO₂, BP, ECG)
Red flags: How to spot an uncertified clinic
  • No KHIDI registration number published or verifiable
  • Physician's Korean board certification not listed or verifiable
  • English consent forms absent — you sign only Korean documents
  • Price quotes given verbally with no written breakdown
  • Procedures offered at prices far below published ranges (often indicates unlicensed facility or unqualified operators)
  • Clinic located in a commercial building with no medical institution license posted
